India is gearing up to launch 5G mobile services during the 2022 India Mobile Congress (IMC), Asia’s largest telecom, media and technology forum organized by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and Cellular Operations Association of India (COAI). During the four-day event, mobile operators and telco executives will talk about India’s roadmap towards 5G and the role the country’s engineering talent will play in driving innovation for the telco industry.

Narendra Narayana, Managing Director and President of Rakuten Symphony India, will participate in the discussion on “Decoding the potential of Digital Bharat / Digital India”, on Saturday, October 1 at 2 p.m. IST.  Naren will highlight the company’s support of the Indian government’s mission to develop home-grown telco solutions built in India for the world and its commitment to continue making local investments to foster growth.

Sunil Gopinath, Chief Executive Officer, Rakuten India, will keynote the session on “Digital Billion: How to make it a reality”, followed by a panel discussion.

Reflecting on his recent visit to Rakuten Symphony’s offices in India to celebrate local successes, unveil the state-of-the-art Global Innovation Lab and share his vision for the future of the company, CEO Tareq Amin said:

“Our operations around the world are powered by incredible Indian talent and creative innovation. As we look ahead to the next stage of our industry, the rise of open, automated, software-centric and cloud-native technologies will democratize the industry and bring billions of people around the world online in the process. This future - which Rakuten Symphony is helping to realize - will be powered in significant ways by remarkable talent and technology from India.”

“Rakuten Symphony believes the Indian market has the potential to define the next generation of online solutions, representing a close collaboration between government, society and business and providing equitable access and inclusion for all,” said Narayana. “Rakuten Symphony India represents a key driver of innovation in the telecom space, and we are very excited to further expand our presence. We look forward to fostering local talent and working with local Indian and global partners to promote the adoption of Open RAN technologies and empower global telecom operators to build and operate secure mobile networks.”
