Symbols

Properly identify the status of the Trademarks by using an appropriate symbol in conjunction with each Trademark at its most prominent and/or first appearance in the headlines and the first time the Trademark appears in the body of the text. The appropriate symbol also should be used on each subsequent page if the topic is different or if the pages can be separated and distributed independently. In electronic materials, use the appropriate symbol properly at least once per webpage, such as by placing the appropriate symbol in any static representation repeated on every page.

If the Trademark is registered with the patent office or competent government agency in the relevant jurisdiction, use the ® symbol, which indicates the registered status of the Trademark.

If the Trademark is unregistered, the ™ symbol should be used. The ® symbol should not be used for trademarks other than the registered Trademarks. These trademark symbols should not be changed; the ™ symbol especially should not be changed to the ® symbol by anyone other than the owner. Trademark rights are established on a jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction basis. Unauthorized use of the ® symbol may result in severe criminal and civil penalties in some countries. If you are unsure whether the Trademarks are registered in your country, please contact us for additional guidance on what trademark symbol you should use.
