Remote enterprise edge compute nodes require a tightly integrated infrastructure software stack for zero-touch remote service delivery. This integration extends beyond the layers that comprise the container orchestration software, such as compute and storage, to also include the server operating system.
Once again, Rakuten Cloud is taking the lead on this critical technical link through its partnership with CIQ and standardization on Rocky Linux as the OS for its Rakuten Cloud-Native Platform (CNP). (More details can be found in this blog post).
CIQ is the company formed to offer technical support for the Rocky Linux operating system. In this video, I had the opportunity to speak with CIQ’s Robert Adolph, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer, about the partnership between the two companies.
The Rakuten Cloud and CIQ partnership extends to the engineering teams of both companies ensuring that the OS is fully optimized for use with CNP, offering the features, cost optimization and tech support needed for advanced enterprise edge compute deployments.
“Being fully certified with Rakuten Cloud is huge for us,” Adolph said. “For the customer as well, because now they know what they are getting is completely supportable from the bare metal all the way out to all their apps. For us, having that certification and partnership is key while doing the engineering work together, as it gives our customers an exceptional experience."
