The real slicing opportunity: a live discussion

May 16, 2024

Rakuten Symphony Head of Network Slicing and one of slicing's original definers, Atila Horvat, joined us on Zero-Touch Telecom Live to talk about the real market opportunity for this technology. The replay is available now below.

Network slicing lets operators dedicate customized slices of their 5G SA network to specific applications or customers to meet certain performance and security requirements.

Some see slicing as a slam dunk solution for increasing value for targeted customers and growing revenues. Cynics are concerned it is technology looking for a reason that does not exist or cannot be delivered.

Atila, a network slicing realist, has worked in mobile slicing since 2015 and guided early operator deployments. In this discussion, he makes the case that there is indeed a market for network slicing, but only if mobile operators approach it correctly.

Watch now for strategies to get started with slicing and the most promising early use cases for exploration. Also, be sure to read Atila's recent Zero-Touch Telecom newsletter article on the topic, "What Is The Market For Network Slicing?"
