From AI-powered innovation to advancements in edge cloud technology and network performance, Rakuten Symphony had plenty to celebrate in 2024. And it seems the industry took notice as well.
From telco analysts, to trade shows and consumer reports, Rakuten Symphony received a number of awards and recognitions for its groundbreaking products, technologies and visionary leadership across the year.
Here's a round up of the notable awards we took home in 2024.
Awards came from all across the map in 2024. In fact, two of Rakuten Symphony's most recent awards were first time recognitions from India Mobile Congress (IMC). The company has been investing in its Indian operations in recent years and was honored to win Biggest Indian Telecom Technology Exporter of the Year,” and “Best Made in India Telecom Innovation.”
When it comes to tech awards, they were grouped around several categories:
Edge Cloud: Our Kubernetes-based Rakuten Cloud software garnered significant industry recognition in 2024, with the Tech Ascension Awards noting that Rakuten Cloud's "top differentiators include optimized stateful edge deployments, end-to-end automated lifecycle management, and a user-friendly UI, making it a game-changer for telecom operators." We believe that this technology offers substantial benefits to a wide range of industries, including retail, manufacturing and healthcare.
AI: Over the past year, we've dedicated significant effort to integrating AI capabilities into our OSS solutions, empowering MNOs to optimize network management. In many cases we worked alongside our sister company Rakuten Mobile, which operates the world’s most widely deployed cloud-native nationwide 4G and 5G networks in Japan.
Working together provides us with the real-world data we need for well-trained models and provides Rakuten Mobile with automation features that deliver customer benefits. Of our AI initiatives, the GTI Awards highlighted that: “Rakuten Mobile, with Rakuten Symphony, is pioneering the use of generative AI for proactive network maintenance, optimizing traffic, and ensuring service quality."
Network performance: We also celebrated joint victories with RMI in several performance award categories, as recognized by Opensignal, a leading independent global authority on consumer connectivity experiences.
In the research firm’s Japan Mobile Network Experience Report, issued in October 2024, Rakuten Mobile took top spot among all Japanese mobile network operators for fastest 5G upload and download speeds. The report noted that 5G upload speeds were 27 Mbps and download speeds were 176.5 Mbps, beating the nearest competitor by 21 Mbps. Other victories for Rakuten Mobile from the report include best upload speed experience (4G / 5G). Also announced in October 2024, Opensignal released their 5G Mobile Network Experience Awards, which stated, in terms of operators worldwide, “the operator with the most impressive relative increase in the proportion of time our 5G users spend connected to 5G is Japan’s Rakuten — a massive 271.3%.”
To end the year, we were honored to take home four Fierce Network Innovation Awards for innovation in our cloud, OSS and automation solutions, along with recognition for our executive team.
These awards let our customers know that our technology development remains world-class as we work to democratize telecommunications and empower customers around the world.
